Heating Grants & Finance in Manchester
There are grants of up to £7,500 for heat pumps, larger grants for lower-income homes, and pay monthly finance to spread the cost of a new boiler. Here’s what’s available in Greater Manchester in 2026, who qualifies, and how we help you apply.
Ways to Pay for Your New Heating
Most government grants now focus on heat pumps and insulation. If you’re replacing a gas boiler, finance is usually the best way to spread the cost.
Boiler Upgrade Scheme
£7,500 off an air source or ground source heat pump, or £9,000 if your home is heated by oil or LPG (until 31 March 2027). We apply for you.
Warm Homes: Local Grant
Run by Greater Manchester Combined Authority for lower-income households. Covers insulation, heat pumps and solar, up to £30,000.
Pay monthly finance
Spread the cost of a new boiler or heating system over 1 to 10 years, subject to status.
0% VAT on heat pumps
Heat pumps, insulation and solar panels are zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027, which is already included in our prices.

Can I get a free boiler in Manchester?
Free gas boiler replacements are now very rare. ECO4 ends on 31 December 2026 and the Warm Homes: Local Grant doesn’t cover gas boilers. If you’re on a low income, you may qualify for a free heat pump or insulation instead.
Who can get the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant?
Homeowners and private landlords in England and Wales who are replacing gas, oil, LPG or direct electric heating with a heat pump. You need a valid EPC and an MCS-certified installer. You don’t have to add insulation first.
Can landlords get heating grants?
Yes. Private landlords can use the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, and the Warm Homes: Local Grant covers 50% of costs on landlords’ further properties, as long as the landlord supports the Greater Manchester Good Landlord Charter.
Can I combine grants?
You usually can’t use the Boiler Upgrade Scheme and another government grant for the same heat pump. You can use finance to cover the rest of the cost.
How does pay monthly finance work?
You spread the cost of your new boiler or heating system over 1 to 10 years, with a small deposit or none at all. Finance is subject to status. This website does not offer or arrange finance. Any finance is provided by the installer’s lender, subject to status.
How do I apply for the Warm Homes: Local Grant?
You apply through the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s Retrofit Portal. If you’re not sure whether you qualify, get in touch and we’ll point you in the right direction.
