Before You Call: Quick Checks
These simple checks sometimes get your boiler running again, and they help us fix it faster if not:
- Gas and electricity are both on
- Prepayment meters have credit
- Boiler pressure is between 1 and 1.5 bar
- Thermostat and timer are set correctly
- Try resetting the boiler once
- Thaw a frozen condensate pipe with warm, not boiling, water
- Note any error code on the display
- Note the boiler make and model

How much does a boiler repair cost?
Call-out fees are typically £60 to £100, and most boiler repairs cost £120 to £750 including parts, with the UK average around £300 (2026). We always give you the price before starting work.
How quickly can you come out?
It depends on how urgent the job is and the time of year. When you get in touch, tell us if you have no heating or hot water.
Do you repair all boiler brands?
Most Gas Safe boiler engineers work on all the major brands, including Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Baxi, Ideal, Viessmann, Glow-worm and Potterton.
Should I repair or replace my boiler?
If your boiler is under about 10 years old, repair is usually the best value. If it’s older, breaking down often, or the repair costs more than half the price of a new one, replacing it makes more sense. See our new boiler prices.
Is it safe to use my boiler if it’s leaking?
No. Turn it off at the mains and get in touch. Water near electrical parts can be dangerous, and a leak can damage the boiler further.
Why does my boiler keep losing pressure?
Usually a leak somewhere in the system, a faulty pressure relief valve or a problem with the expansion vessel. You can top it up, but if it keeps dropping, it needs a repair. Read our full guide to boiler pressure loss.
